Project Tarakan – Rev IIC-X

The Tarakan is a new morph design currently undergoing Research & Development. It was envisioned by Alexei Lazaris. The project aims to create a highly mobile yet durable morph that can carry an inordinately large amount of firepower. Alexei has often likened it to a ‘Pocket Fenrir’, and while it has the appearance to live up to that name, the first prototype did not perform so.


Tarakan is a 2.5 meter tall synthmorph covered in geometric heavy armor plates. It has 3-segment digitigrade legs, each with 5 digits making the limbs prehensile. The upper body is stylistically humanoid, but proportioned differently than flats or other human-esque morphs. On the chest can be seen the seams of two concealed weapons bays. The arms look to be robotic imitations of the limbs used by other humanoid morphs, save for the reinforced forearms. The forearms have fixed weapons mounts, able to adapt to beam, kinetic or missile weaponry. The morph’s head appears to be a quasi-canine armor helm. A vast collection of sensors adorn it, and a weapon mount sits in its forehead. In strategic locations throughout the morph, thrust vector jets protrude.

The Tarakan design’s ultimate form incorporates the following augmentations, however systems integration for so many upgrades is proving to be a significant challenge, and variants lacking certain features are likely to be produced:

Tarakan is Tough (L2) and Ambidextrous, but suffers from Social Stigma: Combat Morph and Uncanny Valley.


Tarakan is ambidextrous, and does not have an off-hand penalty. Integrated gyromounts negate any penalty for shooting while moving. Its cyberclaws give it an Unarmed DV of 15 + 1d10 + 3 + SOM/10 with AP-2. Tarakan can boost its speed modifier from 2 to 3, but the user suffers a 1 hour hangover starting 30 minutes after initiation of that boost.
h4. Progress

Tarakan Rev I:

As of now, the Tarakan has completed initial design and a prototype model has been assembled and initial tests carried out. The results are encouraging. Current version’s radar and communications systems exposed due to inadequate internal space. As a result, called shots against these systems ignore Armor Value. Alexei intends to perform another design iteration to correct this issue.

Revision one completed prototyping and initial systems tests after 5 weeks of development.

Tarakan Rev IIC-X:

After uploading the prototype model to a simulspace battle between Steven Williamson and Sarena Sakura, Steven used his many years of combat experience to advise Alexei on a more effective design. Several useless augmentations were removed, allowing the structure to be reinforced and upgrades to the neural systems implemented. The fractal limbs, eelware, chameleon skin, reduced signature, radar system and emergency farcaster are no longer present in the blueprints.

This new design is predicted to take 12 weeks to complete, and Alexei has asked for Steven Williamson and Jarin Dirac’s help.


Rev IIC-X development is being done under a -30 [DIF] modifier due to the complexity of the upgrades, and a +10 [DIF] modifier for group effort.
